Caladium Happiness

Back in March of this year, we hosted a caladium bulb giveaway from Happiness Farms, Inc. Two lucky Florida gardeners each won a $55 gift certificate to buy caladium bulbs of their choice.

As promised we're checking in with them to see their pretty caladium displays.

SiestaSister ordered John Peed...a pretty red variety outlined in green, and she maximized their use by planting them in various locations around her garden. I think you'll agree with me that she's created some beautiful and colorful tropical vignettes with her caladiums.

NanaK at My Garden Path gave me permission to download these photos of the caladiums she ordered from Happiness Farms. She ordered a box of mixed colors and planted the care-free bulbs at her church for some much needed color.

The combination of colors and patterns blend beautifully together and add a nice punch of summer color to an otherwise green landscape.

For hosting the giveaway, Happiness Farms, Inc, offered to send me a box of caladiums of my choice. Here's a photo from my garden of Miss Muffet. I spread mine around in various pockets throughout the shady areas. They definitely brighten up a dark area with their beauty.

Thank you to Happiness Farms, Inc. for spreading so much happiness around!

Coming up on August 26th and 27th is the 21st Annual Caladium Festival in Lake Placid. Click here for more information.

Your Caladiums are gorgeous! I have a few, but since they're poisonous to dogs (right?), we must limit them in our garden.

Besides, now that it's August, we're looking toward fall vegetable planting! Woo-hoo!

Oh, I am so happy to see views of Siesta Sister's garden! Love all the caladiums! And you are lucky as well to get a little bonus. Caladiums have always been my favorite thing about summer. ☺

Wow, I didn't know these were poisonous to dogs. I have a gazillion in my garden, and my two dogs have always ignored them. They're too busy chasing anoles, skinks, and poisonous toads, I guess.

I love seeing Siesta Sister's caladiums as well as the ones NanaK has growing in her gardens. Nice for you to have gotten that bonus too, which look lovely in your gardens.

I had one lone caladium that comes back every year that I alwasy look forward to seeing. Meems sent me a few bulbs of Miss Muffett awhile back and I am loving them.

Caladiums are wonderful plants and seeing their colorful heart shapes does make me feel happy.

Dianne...I've never heard that caladiums are poison. Good thing I don't have a dog.

FloridaGirl...Yes, it is nice to see views of SiestaSister's garden. She needs a blog of her own...don't you think?

Flowerlady...They are an easy summer plant that gives a lot more than they take.

Darla...On my part, I would say that it's hard to go wrong with caladiums.

Thanks again!! I am totally enjoying my caladiums!

Yay for caladiums! I think all of us Florida gardeners love 'em. They are tropical and EASY to grow, returning year after year.

I did enjoy seeing the views of Siesta Sister's garden and her lovely new addition of caladiums. They look so nice all snuggled up with those other tropical plants.

The Caladiums look beautiful!!! I need to look into how poisonous they actually are. I would love to have more in our yard, but we do have a dog & cat.

Not to slight your Miss Muffets Susan. Those are actually the ones I tried to order w/ my certificate. Alas, they were out of them. They are on my list for next year. I've never ordered from the farms before. They seem to have so much more variety than the big box stores where I've always purchased my bulbs. Your Miss Muffets look great against the backdrop of the fern. Now that I think about it, I want some of that fern too. The list gets longer....:)

HI Susan... I'm so happy to have found your gardening blog.. I'm still trying to figure out how to garden in Florida.. sandy, hot, swampie is how my yard is and all the changing the soil has not helped.. the rain flows down my slope into the creek and washes it all away.. I'll be reading both your blogs hopefully to learn a bit...
Thank you

If after you’ve selected a lawn New Lawn service company, and they were able to get the job accomplished, make sure to inspect if the job is done to your standards. If you are, make sure to schedule future mowing. It is best to book in a weekly service from Spring to Autum and once per month over the winter season.

Placing caladiums in your garden is a fantastic idea. They seem to be very simple in appearance, but would make your yard more attractive.
